Angels That Care

Faces of the Missing

Sitting on my porch swing listening to the rain ping,
reminiscing of a childhood that should have been.
Splashing in the puddles and twirling an umbrella,
soaking up God's tears dripping from the clouds.

Playing in the free tide, watching a boat drift by,
Admiring a rainbow with all it's many colors.
The sound of flowing water resonating laughter
Pelicans are feeding at the misty harbors.

A sordid tale is told with black sky's looming overhead
The fallacy of true love turned to fantasy and pain.
Vicious crimes happening over and over again,
Untrusting words are spoken like pelting drops of rain.

Storming in thereafter sheets of crystal water,
A mirror of an empty shell abandoned and alone.
Lamenting on a dirty act woeful of the sinful fact,
The past is now the enemy the future is unknown.

The water a deluge of tears wafting away my fears,
carrying away bad thoughts in a tumultuous rush.
bubbling with excitement waves of pure fulfillment,
memories of a faded past flows away with a gush.

Soon the realization of guilt no more frustration,
Peace her heart can find and her soul can clearly see.
Forgiveness given wholly and the rain will always fall
But the sky's will clear once more; she is finally free.

There was a recent commentary written titled, “800,000 Missing
Kids? Really? Making sense of child abduction statistics.” By
Christopher Beam Jan. 17, 2007, which you can read at this link:

http://www.slate.com/id/2157738/?nav=tap3&GT1=9010

This article although interesting and notable seems to give a
laid back perception of child abduction.  Sort of saying, "Ah,
it's not really that bad...and this is why."  ANY NUMBER of child
abduction cases is bad.  Informative as the article is with it's
statistics and numbers, it would be a much better read if there
were ideas on how to fix the system rather than bog down the
numbers.
As a sponsor, contributor and active member of Angels That Care
(www.angelsthatcare.org), an online, non-profit organization
focusing on resources and aid to anyone suffering abuse, I
believe these numbers are astronomical and horrifying.

As a mother of three and  a nurse mandated to be alert and report
abuse, I find that silence in fear of not getting involved is a
key issue.  Do we know as a civilized population what to look for
and be aware of?  Angels that Care has key information to help
you be alert that you can find at,
http://www.angelsthatcare.org/signs_of_abuse.html.  As long as
there is evil in the world, there will be evil deeds.

I pray for the children
I pray for the hurt
I pray for the abused
I pray for the abuser
You too can help stop the cycle.
Speak out.

5 things you can do to help child abuse/neglect:

1. Reach out
2. Raise the issue
3. Remember the risk factors
4. Recognize the warning signs
5. Report it – Suspected abuse or neglect

Be an advocate for our children, our future.

CORA
If you are in danger, please try to use a safer computer that someone abusive does not have direct access, or even remote (hacking) access to.
•Computers can provide a lot of information about what you look at on the Internet, the emails you send, and other activities. It is not possible to delete or clear all computer “footprints”.
•If you think your activities are being monitored, they probably are. Abusive people are often controlling and want to know your every move. You don’t need to be a computer programmer or have special skills to discover someone’s computer activities – anyone can do it and there are many ways.
•It might be safer to use a computer in a public library, at a Community Technology Center (CTC) (national directory: www.ctcnet.org), at a trusted friend’s house, or an Internet Cafe.

E-mail is not a safe or confidential way to talk to someone about the danger or abuse in your life, please call a hotline instead.
