Her Freedom
She woke up on a summer morn
and smiled as the sun shone in
Her bedroom all pinks and green
Her room as neat as a pin
She showers and dresses to go to work
Her life is filled with joy
Such a home she put together
for her and her little boy
She drops him off at school
and off to work she goes
puts in a day that's rewarding
No worry and no woes
She meets her son and with a smile
hugs him to her heart
They've lived alone for only a year
For them it was a brand new start
She left behind a shadowed life
of pain, abuse and sorrow
Put all she had into moving away
and looking ahead to her tomorrow
She kisses her son as he's put bed
Looks on him with a smile
The sun is setting and she feels the freedom
for her and her little boy Lyle
