Nothing Like a Comforter

To have a friend is to truly feel alive.
To have the friend who loves the poet
in you weaves a blanket at once warm
and strong.  Soft as silk as needed,
little scratchy, same deal.   Fiber
is blood-, sweat-, and tears-proof.
Absorbs, rather than sheds.  You can
wear it as a shawl, a coat, a cape,
your choice.  You can hoist it
as a sail.  You can drape it over
your favorite chair and lie back
and veg out    Best of all, you can
roll in it like a puppy, and dream-
nap to your heart's content.
This is a comforter to be shared.
Only by sharing, does it last.
When it lasts, it lasts a lifetime.
Beyond!  Thank you, my friends.
Thank you from the bottom of
my heart.  From the very depths
of my soul,  I thank you,  thank
you, thank you for this gift
