This web site provides you and your neighbors fundamental steps toward better safety, prevention, preparation and awareness. This is part of our commitment to help keep your neighborhood safe.
Registered users receive the SCAN service free of charge.
SCAN is free of charge to all public safety agencies of all types, municipal, county, state and federal, as well as schools, colleges and universities, and hospitals.
SCAN is presented by, SCAN USA Corporation and parent company Sharp Holding Corporation through a public-private partnership in conjunction with the National Coalition of Public Safety Officers (NCPSO), the California Organization of Police and Sheriffs (COPS) and SBC Communications.
BROADCASTING ALERTS
The SCAN service broadcasts alerts directly to computers and wireless devices such as cell phone and PDAs as they become available in the zip code areas for which users have registered.
SCAN maintains a twenty-four hour, seven-day service and support bureau that collects and reviews alert content and broadcasts those alerts to those registered users that have opted-in to the SCAN service.
Even opponents of cellular telephone usage by drivers acknowledge their utility in an emergency situation. Here are the state police / highway patrol telephone numbers by state. Law enforcement agencies urge motorists to use these numbers only to report accidents, emergencies, impaired drivers, reckless drivers, vehicle problems, hazardous material spills and criminal behavior. We urge drivers to be aware of using their cellular telephones in a safe manner and to be aware of laws which prohibit using their phones while driving.
The National government and many states have mandated that 911 work from your cellular telephone. According to many Cellular Providers, they are making strides to accomplish this. This week Congress showed how quickly they'll act,
To interfere where they've no right to go,
Even the signature of President Bush was acquired,
Hoping to gain popularity at the polls.
The government can flex and show power,
Yet sit on their ass's weak and mild,
Freeing from prison to once again strike,
Sex Offenders who rape and bury a child.
Politicians will perform for the media,
To feed their own political needs,
But cower in a corner and do nothing,
While registered sex offenders are freed.
At the time of this writing the last little child,
To be sacrificed by the courts of the land,
Was a precious little girl named Jessica Lunsford,
Whose death they now hold in their hands.
