A young tiny girl smelling the flowers
Was such a beautiful sight to behold
And as the mother watched her play
This story to her would never be told

Years before the child was conceived
She had lived with abuse and pain
From a man who had pledged his love
But only used her for personal gain

Each day she planned she would leave
But was afraid of what he would do
For many times he had threatened her
As insanely into a rampage he flew

Black eyes and bruises on her body
Kept her from having any friends
And when she spoke to him about it
He slapped her with a hateful grin

Slowly the months turned into years
And she felt nothing would change
So praying each day for an answer
Her plans she did secretly arrange

The night she recalled so vividly
As he drunkenly slept upon a bed
She packed her little suitcase
And in the darkness quickly fled

Morning found her on the doorsteps
Of a woman's shelter miles away
And as she told her abusive story
With them she was welcome to stay

Many years have past since that night
And she found someone who does care
A husband who loves and adores her
As a beautiful child they now share

Glorious sunshine upon golden locks
Of a tiny young girl as she smells
Yellow flowers in the Autumn season
And her mother this story won't tell
